Kate Middleton channeled vintage-inspired charm in Rodarte for Tuesday’s Cancer Research U.K. reception to mark the charity’s 125th anniversary at St James’s Palace in London.
The Princess of Wales wore the American luxury fashion brand’s heart printed silk twill collared dress, featured a rich red tone with small white hearts and polka dots cascading throughout the fabric. The dress included a white crepe de chine collar with sinuous lines and statement shoulders that transitioned to short sleeves with the statement white fabric at the cuffs.
A belt cinched the waist of the frock and provided silhouette definition, while the midi skirt of the dress was designed with movement in mind. A floral appliqué added a whimsical touch to the dress with an overall look that evoked a classic approach to a playful print.

Middleton continued the red color motif of the dress with pointed toe Gianvito Rossi pumps in suede. She also carried a bow-embellished suede bag by Miu Miu and accessorized with earrings and necklace by British family run jewelry brand G. Collins & Sons.
Though Rodarte isn’t among the Princess of Wales’ regular designers in her royal wardrobe, the American label has continued to grow in prominence since it officially launched in 2005. On Saturday, Michelle Pfeiffer wore a Rodarte midi dress with a pattern inspired by the label’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection.
Rodarte founders Kate and Laura Mulleavy‘s designs have been worn by the likes of Oscar nominees and winners Florence Pugh and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. “We’re in Los Angeles…how film meets fashion has always been something we’ve cared about since our first presentation when we put Criterion DVDs in the gift bags, it’s always been part of what we do,” Laura Mulleavy told WWD in March 2024.
“Doing things on our own terms is something we own. I don’t need to do a show every season if I’m going to make a movie and I don’t need to do a show every season unless I feel creatively inclined. I think the reason we’re still in business is we’ve been smart about these decisions,” Kate Mulleavy added.
Tuesday’s Cancer Research U.K. reception to mark the charity’s 125th anniversary marked a special event for Middleton, who disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She has since been in remission following treatment. King Charles III also attended Tuesday’s event at St. James’s Palace in London, he too revealed his cancer diagnosis in February 2024.
