News of a reissue for Michael Jordan’s original Air Jordan 3 True Blue surfaced all the way back in September and now, a first look at the upcoming retro has surfaced.
E-commerce imagery from retailer JD Sports shows a detailed look at the grade school-sized 2026 Air Jordan 3 Retro True Blue. Despite its scaled-down sizing, the shots provide a clear look at what to expect from the upcoming reissue, which appears to faithfully re-create the 1988 style.

The classic sneaker begins with a white leather upper that’s primarily accented with the signature True Blue shade, a hue which lands somewhere between marine blue and navy. The washed-out blue color is combined with smaller portions of red on the tongue Jumpman branding and behind the tongue as well as the lower eyelets.

Colors aside, the most unique feature of the True Blue Air Jordan 3 is its use of gray elephant print across the mid-panel of the eyelets. Other original ’88 Air Jordan 3s only featured the exotic material on the toe tip and heel, making the True Blue style a unique outlier since its first arrival. In the decades that have followed, several newer Air Jordan 3s have adopted the look, but the True Blue is where it all started.
The True Blue Air Jordan 3 Retro has been reissued on numerous occasions, with its first-ever rerelease taking place in 2001. That was followed in 2009 with an international exclusive that never made its way to the States. It saw yet another launch in 2011, its first in a decade with wide availability. And most recently, in 2016, Nike, Inc.’s Jordan Brand launched the sneaker once more, this time original Nike Air heel branding for the first time since its ’88 debut.
This year’s Air Jordan 3 Retro True Blue release is set to be released on July 18 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers for $230. The sneaker’s full colorway is White/Varsity Red/True Blue/Cement Gray/Anthracite and the style code for men’s sizing is IF4396-102.
